The video quality is a bit low in this one, but that’s okay, because all you really need to do is listen to the amazing voices coming out of this amazing, talented man.
Mel Blanc was a voice actor with a career spanning six decades, and whether you’re young or old, if you’ve ever seen or heard any of the Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies cartoons then this man has touched your life in some way.
Mel is responsible for the voices of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat, Yosemite Sam, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Pepé Le Pew, Speedy Gonzales, Wile E. Coyote, the Tasmanian Devil and many, many other characters from the Golden age of cartoons.
In this interview (a very old interview, it seems David Letterman hadn’t learned about ‘humor’ or ‘interview skills’ yet) Mel shows why he was known as the ‘Man of 1000 Voices’.
This clip left me a bit sad that we had to lose this amazing, warm and funny man, but I was grinning ear to ear all day after hearing those unique and funny characters again after all these years.
